Hi, thanks for showing an interest.The reason I think this is because when I follow the steps shown in the box of pressing the F5 key, only two options are shown;.Standard PC with C-Step i486.OtherWhich means that 'Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC' is not there. Therefore this is not automatically supported. At least that is how I understood it! ' XP doesn't always recognize a computer BIOS is ACPI capable and doesn't install the support for ACPI.' What I don't quite understand is how I do install the support, as this is not advised in the document.It is worth noting that this XP install is from scratch; I have had xp on this pc before I was merely reformatting the laptop (It was on it when bought). Also, the cd I am using is the one which came with the laptop - its xp2 home edition (im aware this is the xp3 forum for I couldnt find the xp2 forum and I didnt think it would make a difference).
